The Library & Archives of the San Diego Air & Space Museum actively encourages the use of the Museum’s research materials to further the public’s education of aviation and space history and technology. The mission statement of the Library & Archives reflects this goal:

The mission of the Library & Archives at the San Diego Air & Space Museum is to collect, preserve, and make available for research published, documentary, and visual materials that chronicle the development of Air & Space technology and experience.

About the Library & Archives…

The Library & Archives serves as repository for several types of historical and contemporary publications and records related to aviation and space history, and including technical specifications of aircraft. The main focus of this world class collection is aviation-related materials with an emphasis on aerospace vehicles, events, and individuals associated with the geographical area of San Diego, California.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum Library & Archives houses one of the largest collections of Air & Space-related books and archival materials in the country. This extensive collection, which includes many unique and rare items, consists of books, periodicals, films and video tapes, audio tapes (including oral histories), manuals, plus a very large number of photos, personal and organizational papers, clippings, articles, and other archival materials.

AeroCat, the Library & Archives new online catalog, is now available for searching the book collection and journal titles. Manuals, videos, and other archival materials will be added at a future time.
